The Smithsonian Learning Lab is a repository of authentic digital resources; more than a million images, recordings, and texts; that support deep, meaningful learning. Learning that “enables critical thinking, flexible problem-solving, and transfer of skills and use of knowledge in new situations.”
The lab encourages “users to create and share personalized collections of Smithsonian assets and user-generated resources, the Learning Lab aspires to build a global community of learners who are passionate about adding to and bringing to light new knowledge, ideas, and insight.”
Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park now has a personalized collection at the Learning Lab. The collection has vintage portraits of Colonel Allensworth, his wife Mrs. Josephine Allensworth, their daughter Eva, and Mrs. Alice Hackett. Pictures of the hotel, Hindsman General Store, and the school house.
There are video tours of the park, the Hindsman General Store, the Hackett Home. There is also, an Allensworth coloring book and a teacher’s guide with student lessons and resources.
